Since its formation, NHS Innovations North has been successfully funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) via the Public Sector Research Exploitation (PSRE) Fund and the Department of Health, which has enabled the provision of a free service to the NHS Trusts in the North East region.
Further funding has been provided by the Regional Development Agency, One North East (via their Single Programme Fund) and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in recognition of the important role of NHS Innovations North in supporting local healthcare small to medium enterprises (SMEs).

The NHS Innovations North project is part financed by the European Union’s ERDF Competitiveness Programme 2007-13, securing £800,000 of ERDF investment through regional development agency One North East.
