A groundbreaking initiative to maximise healthcare innovation in the UK, to improve quality of care and reduce costs, has been formed by six organisations sharing their expertise and resources.
The Healthcare Innovations Alliance (HIA) launched today (Thursday 24th June) comprises six NHS Innovation Centres located around the country which are combining their expertise to speed up the development of ideas to improve patient care and ensure efficient and cost-effective healthcare delivery.
As a joint force, the Hubs’ Teams of experienced advisors and project managers will be able to leverage their capabilities and networks to bid for contracts and secure funding to progress healthcare innovation.
The six Companies are:
NHS Innovations East
NHS Innovations London
NHS Innovations North
NHS Innovations South East
NHS Innovations South West
NHS Innovations Yorkshire & Humber
Working closely with universities, healthcare professionals and companies, the HIA can offer help to NHS staff to explore healthcare innovations with rapid evaluation of ideas, reducing the level of time and investment wasted on duplicate projects or those which will not meet the required objectives.
The combined forces of the HIA will also enable efficient implementation of successful innovations across the NHS and international markets.
Dick Clark, Chair of the HIA said: “The importance of innovation in the NHS has never been higher on the agenda than it is now. With the drive to make cost savings and at the same time preserve and improve the quality of care, innovation has a leading role to play. The formation of the HIA is both a timely and positive move; with the wealth of shared expertise and resources we will be able not only to promote the importance of innovation but also facilitate rapid implementation of successful ideas”.
