What happens next

After you have registered your contact details and idea title on our Bright Ideas Tracker, we will send you a unique username and password so that you can fill in a full application form for your idea.

Once we have received your completed application form we will allocate a case manager to your ideas and begin to assess your idea.

The assessment process can be followed by using our Bright Ideas Tracker which can accessed by you at any time using your unique username and password.

Our experienced technologists and IP experts use a tried and tested system to analyse staff ideas and identify those that solve problems. This process can include a detailed literature search and market consideration that will result in an Opportunity Analysis and Action Plan. We then work with you, the inventor, to protect your idea and explore its market potential with our network of commercial partners. This allows us to consider the best path to commercialisation* (for technology or devices innovation) or dissemination (for service innovation).

Our case managers are always on hand to discuss your ideas in confidence and advise on their progress through our system and welcome your feedback.

*it is important to remember that not all ideas will progress to this commercialisation and/or dissemination stage. As with any technology transfer organization we have to consider such factors as originality, market size etc. when assessing our ideas portfolio.
