NHS Innovations North

Who are we?

NHS Innovations North is the Intellectual Property Innovation Hub for the NHS in the North East.

We provide a free service to all North East NHS staff and are an arms length organisation of the NHS.

As part of a national network, nine regional Innovation Hubs have been established for the NHS in England. We are funded via by the Office of Science and Innovation, our regional development agency - One NorthEast, the European Regional Development Fund and the Department of Health to offer a free service to manage the commercialisation of innovations arising from within the NHS in the North East.

The team at NHS Innovations North have experience and expertise in prior art exploration, market research and the commercialisation process. This encompasses all aspects of NHS technology from identification of ideas through to appropriate protection and establishing licensing agreements.

"NHS Innovations North came to us with the original idea for the Paediatric Chair and their expertise helped us organise clinical trials, production licence agreements and literature for exhibition purposes. The whole process ran very smoothly.”
